What’s a Credit Reference Bureau (CRB) in Kenya

A credit reference bureau is a company licenced by central bank of Kenya to collect, store and collate credit information on individuals and companies from different sources and provide the information in form of a credit report upon the request of a lender.

CRB Kenya Clearance Certificate

Governmental and an increasing number of private sector employers are making it mandatory for prospective employees to present a Certificate of Clearance from one of the licensed credit reference bureaux (CRBs). Metropol provide a convenient network of offices and agents for individuals to obtain their CoC when required. The CoC may be used to Know Your Employee (KYE), Know Your Customer (KYC), Know Your Agent (KYA), or to clear the individual or company itself for business with other SMEs or corporate clients.

What is a CRB certificate of clearance (COC)?

A certificate of a clearance is a document that confirms that currently a customer does not have a non- performing account.

Do you pay to have your record updated by a CRB?

NO: CRBs do not charge to have customer information on the CRB. Actually sharing data with CRBs is free for all lenders. Nevertheless when a customer has a historical negative listing, a lender ask for a certificate of clearance (COC) from the CRB.

What are the reasons for getting a CRB kenya certificate of clearance?

A COC is meant to give the borrower peace of mind. A COC is required to present to a lender after being adversely listed, to apply for employment etc.

How long is a COC valid?

A COC is valid as at the date of issue. This is because CRBs receive information on a daily basis which could alter the customer information.

How much does a CRB kenya COC (Clearance Certificate) Cost?

A COC cost ksh 2200 which is payable through mpesa or to the CRB bank account

Who qualifies to get a CRB COC(Clearance Certificate)?

All customers who currently do not have a non performing account qualify for a COC.

Check Form One Students 2018 Admission Letters Online Print

You can now check and get Form One Students 2018 Admission Letters Online and Print from the Ministry of Education website

Parents will now know the schools their Form One children have been admitted to by logging into a website, Education Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i has said.

Launching this year’s Form One selection on Thursday, Dr Fred Matiangi said the ministry was piloting an online system of transmitting admission letters to candidates so as to expedite their access to admission information.

“We want to give ample time to parents and guardians to prepare for their children’s admission to secondary schools,” said Dr Matiang’i at the Kenya Institute of Curriculum Development in Nairobi.

Ministry of Education Website

After the online admission process takes off, students selected to national schools will download their admission letters from the ministry’s website, www.education.go.ke.

They will also access their admission letters through links on the websites of their respective secondary schools.

“I challenge all secondary schools to ensure they have functional websites to enhance public access to information,” said Matiang’i.

This year, however, the Ministry of Education will still send out admission letters in hard copy, a process that will run concurrently with the online access being piloted for some national schools.

“It is my expectation that in subsequent selections, transmittal of admission letters for all categories of schools will be purely online,” he added.

WIN FOR PRIVATE SCHOOLS

The 7,000 candidates who scored more than 400 marks in last year’s Kenya Certificate of Primary Education have been admitted to national schools.

This is a major win for private schools as a large batch of these candidates are from private primary schools.

The 105 national schools can accommodate 23,085, and the remaining 16,000 slots will be shared through merit, affirmative action and a quota system, Dr Matiang’i said.

During the launch, Dr Matiang’i said he would ensure that candidates who perform well are admitted to their secondary school of choice.

Extra-county schools will admit 63,990, county schools 123,435, sub-county schools will take up 481,318 and the private schools will admit 66,351.

“My ministry is alive to the fact that 18 per cent of the 2015 candidates may not be placed into secondary schools. We wish to inform the public that, in conjunction with county governments, we will develop alternative pathways, including youth polytechnics so as to provide more avenues for youth to further their education and training,” he said

Babu Owino Funny Speeches, Quotes, Sayings, insults & YouTube Videos

Comrades Tialalalala. No matter how lazy a woman is, she cannot forget her buttocks at home. No matter how short a man is, he cannot be shorter than his penis.Comrades power! Comrades akchuu. Comrades riiaAAh. When I was the Sonu chair, comrades ate chicken, when I left they ate like chicken and today they’re eating with chicken.

Comrade tiiaaalala! I’m proud to study at the ONLY University not named after dead people. But SONU is dead, and it didn’t die a natural death. It was killed by the administration and
thus Magoha and Mbeche must be disappointed and somebody else appointed.

Yes, the fly that patches on the scrotum must be handled delicately. Whether quail eggs fall on the balls or the balls fall on the quail eggs, it is the quail eggs that break. Allow me to be as brief as a cock on a hen.Comrades power!

My opponents are admin puppets. Pk has been in Sonu for three years. He is an academic dwarf. His running mate served as a Secretary General instead of secretary general. Comrades vote me and I will fight for you with zeal n zest like the bulls of Spain or the women of Homa Bay…Time has come for change, comrades, no man uses a condom twice.

University of Nairobi Student Leader Babu Owino’s Best Speech: ‘My dear comrades’

“Welcome to the only university of Nairobi, the best university in Africa, south of Sahara desert, north of river Limpopo. My dear comrades,t his is the only university with the tallest, darkest and handsome professors, shortest professors.

As the sonu chairman, I will protect you from the unruly watchmen, policemen, lecturers, and professors who might have the ill intention of causing real or imaginary harm to you…

Tomorrow, we have a date with the government, we shall peacefully demonstrate till helb credit our accounts. Let no one be a bystander, let no one be a sympathizer of HELB. In the end, both the oppressed and the oppressor will be judged equally.

The oppressor will be judged for oppressing the oppressed while the oppressed will be judged harshly for allowing the oppression

Thank You”

List of Licensed Credit Reference Bureaus in Kenya

Credit Reference Bureaus complement the central role played by banks and other financial institutions in extending financial services within an economy. CRBs help lenders make faster and more accurate credit decisions. They collect, manage and disseminate customer information to lenders with in a provided regulatory framework – in Kenya, the Banking (Credit Reference Bureau) Regulations, 2008 which was operationalised effective 2nd February 2009. Credit histories not only provide necessary input for credit underwriting, but also allow borrowers to take their credit history from one financial institution to another, thereby making lending markets more competitive and, in the end, more affordable. Credit bureaus assist in making credit accessible to more people, and enabling lenders and businesses reduce risk and fraud. Sharing of information between financial institutions in respect of customer credit behavior, therefore, has a positive economic impact.

Banned TV Adverts in Kenya That Are “Pornographic In Nature”

Television condom adverts and two alcohol ads have been banned for being “pornographic in nature, promoting and glamorizing sex among teenagers”.

“By airing these unclassified adverts, the advertisers and broadcasters are violating the Kenya Information and Communication Act that empowers the board to impose age restrictions on all programmes to be aired to ensure content that depicts adult scenes are not shown between 5am-10pm,” said KFCB’s chief executive officer, Ezekiel Mutua.

Kenya Film and Classification Board (KFCB) was set up to, among other things, ensure that all films in the Kenyan market conform to national aspirations. In this capacity, KFCB has banned several films including Wolf of Wall Street, Fifty Shades of Grey, This is the End, Paradise Love and Movie 43.

KFCB’s chief executive officer, Ezekiel Mutua, on Tuesday, December 15, said Pwani Oil and other companies had been given 14 days to comply with regulations meant to protect underage audiences.

The Board said the adverts depict scenes intended for adult audiences and should not air during the watershed hours of 5am to 10pm.

Turning to the alcohol ads ban, Mutua said: “They attempt to associate drugs, alcohol, and other illegal substances with sexual prowess and, or a glamourous or successful lifestyle.”

Nacada chairman John Mututho welcomed the alcohol ads ban, saying his agency actually advised that it be done.

He said some of the drinks being advertised as “brandy” were cheap second-generation liquor banned two months ago. He said the advert by London Distillers was misleading because the company purported to own a TV station, and the drink being advertised was not even brandy.

Trust Condoms TVC

Regarding the condoms ads ban, the National Aids and Control Council, which formulates policy on HIV control in Kenya, said it was not consulted before the sanction. NACC director Nduku Kilonzo said now that she is aware of the moratorium she would engage the films Board to prevent stifling of HIV campaigns.

The KFCB boss added that some of the advertisements airing on local television stations attempt to associate drugs, alcohol and other substances with sexual prowess and a successful lifestyle.

Mutua said the board had written to all producers of alcoholic drink adverts to ensure the clips are examined and approved before being aired on TV.

KFCB is now targeting Mexican soap operas and Nigerians movies being aired on television to ensure they all meet the regulations.
