The Ministry of Defence is pleased to announce the recruitment of General Service Officer (GSO) Cadets & Specialist Officers into the Kenya Defence Forces for the year 2015.
Bribery and other acts of corruption are against the law. All persons presenting themselves for recruitment with fake/falsified documents or caught engaging in any corrupt activity shall be arrested and prosecuted. If you accept to be conned, you will lose your money/property and be jailed; it has happened to many during last recruitments. Do not waste your money and risk imprisonment; NO ONEcan influence the recruitment process. Recruitment of personnel into KDF is absolutely FREE FOR ALL KENYAN CITIZENS.

GENERAL REQUIREMENTS

Prospective candidates who wish to apply must possess the following relevant requirements:
  • Candidates must be Kenyan citizens
  • Aged between 18-26 yrs, Should be physically and medically fit in accordance with KDF standards
  • Have no criminal record
  • Minimum height 5ft 3in ( 5′ 3″ ),
  • Minimum weight for men 54.55 kg & 50 kg for women
  • Female candidates must not be pregnant

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

A minimum of mean grade B (plain) in KCSE up to university degree with minimum subject grade of C+ (plus) in English, Mathematics and in any one of the Pure Sciences (Physics, Chemistry or Biology).

Those aspiring to join KDF as GSO Cadets should note that the initial training period will cover three continuous years leading to a BSC in Military Science on completion.

Specialist Officers

A minimum of mean grade B (plain) in KCSE and an undergraduate degree from a recognised Institution or University. Must be registered with the relevant statutory body where applicable and minimum 2 years working experience.

SPECIALIST OFFICERS VACANCIES

Medical Officers
Must have a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBCh.B) Degree and registere with the Medical Practitioners Board (MPDB).
Dentists
Must have a Bachelor of Dentistry degree and be registered with the Medical Practitioners and Dentists Board (MPDB).
Lawyers
Must have a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) degree and a post-graduate diploma from Kenya school of Law, must be admitted as an advocate of the High Court of Kenya and be in possession of a valid current practicing certificate.
Architects
Must have a Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch) degree and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
Electrical Engineers
Must have a BSc. in Electrical and Electronics Engineering or Bachelor of Technology Degree and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
Mechanical Engineers
Must have a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or BSc. in Production Engineering Degree and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
Marine Engineers
Must have a BSc. in Mechanical Engineering or BSc. in Production Engineering Degree and be registered with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB).
IT Specialists

Must have a BSc. in Statistics Degree with Information Technology.

Chaplains/Imams
  • Roman Catholic Chaplains: Must have a professional degree and be an ordained priest.
  • Anglican Church Chaplains: Must have a professional degree and be an ordained priest.
  • Muslim Imams: Must have a professional degree and be a qualified Imam.

Material Estimate Officer

Must have a Bachelor of Quantity Surveying Degree and be registered with the Board of Registration of Architects and Quantity Surveyors (BORAQS).
Communication/IT

Must have a BSc. in Information and Communication Technology.

The initial military training for Specialist Officers will take four months.
