Pest Control Products Board serves to execute the PCP Act of the government of Kenya, of Ed 1983. To ensure access to safe, quality and efficacious pest control products for animal, plant and human health while safeguarding their health and the environmental protection.
We are committed to provide an efficient and effective regulatory service for importation, exportation, manufacture, distribution, transportation, sale, disposal and safe use of pest control products and mitigate potential harmful effects to the environment.

1. Senior Laboratory Technologist

The Pest Control Products Board, a Statutory Organization of Government invites applications from qualified candidates for the following vacant position:-

Duties and responsibilities

  • maintenance of specimen/culture banks
  • conduct quality control on reagents, equipment, products and varied test kits
  • maintain laboratory equipment and instruments
  • maintain quality control and functionality of instruments
  • co-ordination of the provision of laboratory services
  • management and supervision of laboratory services
  • laboratory investigations
  • training of staff

Job Specifications

  • served in the grade of Laboratory Technologist for a minimum period of five (5) years three (3) of which must be in the level of Laboratory Technologist or in a comparable position OR a Higher National Diploma in any of the following: Applied Biology, Medical Laboratory Technology, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Food Science, or a relevant qualification from a recognized institution;
  • a Bachelor’s degree in any of the following: Medical Laboratory Technology,
  • Bio-technology, Bio-chemistry, Analytical/Applied Chemistry, Food Science, or its equivalent from a recognized institute
  • three (3) years’ experience as a laboratory technologist;
  • served in the grade of Laboratory Technologist I for a minimum period of seven (7) years in a comparable position
  • attended a senior management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks
  • Proficiency in computer application skills.

 

2. Pesticide Inspector

The Pest Control Products Board, a Statutory Organization of Government invites applications from qualified candidates for the following vacant position:-

Duties and responsibilities

  • carrying out inspection of quality of pesticide and suitability of premises
  • processing of imports and exports permits
  • certifying that Pesticides handled from manufacture to use have been approved and registered for use
  • sampling of pesticides; preparing field inspection reports and premises license
  • certification of pesticides at ports of entry
  • identification of awareness creation needs of the public
  • preparation of training materials and programmes
  • preparation and distribution of IEC materials in liaison with the Communication Officer
  • participation in Public awareness forums such as agricultural shows, exhibition and field days
  • preparing reports on the impact of training

Job Specifications

For appointment to this grade, one must have:

  • Bachelor of Science degree in any of the following disciplines: Agriculture, Environmental Chemistry, Chemistry, relevant Biological Sciences, or any other relevant qualification from a recognized institution
  • Proficiency in computer applications.

3. Clerical Officer

The Pest Control Products Board, a Statutory Organization of Government invites applications from qualified candidates for the following vacant position:-

Duties and responsibilities

  • compiling of statistical records
  • Computation of financial or other statistical records based on special source of information
  • Receiving, sorting out, filing and dispatching of correspondence documents
  • Preparation of personnel statistics/accounting/procurement ocuments/registry/store/library
  • sorting and dispatching mails
  • filing, shelving and retrieval of files
  • compiling data and drafting simple letters

Job Specification

For appointment to this grade, a candidate must have:-

  • Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) C- (minus) or its equivalent from a recognized Institution
  • Computer Application skills

4. Personal Secretary

The Pest Control Products Board, a Statutory Organization of Government invites applications from qualified candidates for the following vacant position:-

Duties and responsibilities

  • recording dictation in shorthand and transcribing it in typewritten form
  • Processing data
  • Management of e-office
  • Ensuring security of office records, documents and equipment
  • Operating office equipment
  • Management of office protocol
  • Managing office petty cash
  • Handling telephone calls and appointments
  • Receiving and attending to visitors
  • Preparing responses to correspondence
  • Undertaking any other secretarial duties that may be assigned

Job Specification

  • Served for a minimum period of five (5) years, three (3) of which must be at the level of personal secretary II or an equivalent position in a reputable organization
  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Secretarial Studies/Business and Office Management or equivalent qualifications from a recognized Institution;
  • a Certificate in Computer Applications (Windows applications: MSWord; MS-PowerPoint, MS-Excel and Internet) from a recognized Institution
  • Attended a Senior Secretarial Management course lasting not less than four (4) weeks

5. Pesticide Analyst Internships

In support of Government Youth Initiative to develop a pool of young talent for the Kenyan Labour market, Pest Control Products Board is extremely dedicated in equipping young adults with skills needed in the modern business world giving them an exposure of the workplace environment.

In this regard, PCPB is pleased to declare the following six (6) internship opportunities in the following departments for a period of six months with effect from 1st April, 2018.
