KMTC set to To Digital with the Upgrade of ICT System

2

Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) Students will in future apply online for admission at KMTC when plans to upgrade the College ICT system are finalized, KMTC Director Peter Tum has said.

Under the proposed initiative, results of students and transcripts after qualification would be released online.

Each college would get at least one bus and a utility vehicle to ease transport of students and staff to clinical areas.

KMTC would also strengthen its working relationship with county Governments as part of efforts to enhance development of campuses and to improve the health services in the country.

These are part of the reforms that KMTC had initiated in a bid to make the college more responsive to its customers’ needs.

Lecturers deployed to the college by the ministry would be absorbed together with their pay roll, thanks to the President’s directive when he opened KMTC Kapenguria campus on November 16, 2015.

The KMTC Director Peter Tum said this during a familiarization tour of KMTC colleges in Nyanza province from February 2 to 5, 2016. During the tour, the Director met with staff and students from six campuses in the region – Migori, Kuria, Homa Bay, Kisii, Kisumu and Lake Victoria.

The Director thanked all staff for their support through prayers, saying this had helped him clinch the position of KMTC Director.

“We have fought many battles together and if we continue working this way, we will overcome many challenges,” he said.

Merit and hardwork would be rewarded while those sleeping on the job would be punished, he added.

During the tour, the Director also met with Migori County Governor Okoth Obado, Homa Bay County Governor Cyprian Awiti and Kisumu County Governor Cornel Rasanga as part of the college’s ongoing efforts to strengthen relationships with County Governments.

As well as seeing the developments in the colleges, he shared with staff and students the challenges they experienced in their respective colleges.
